R217A08 FAQ

Neither of the are R217A08 functional.
Is the device supposed to ECHO the command string, if is is supposed to, it does not.
using serial 9600-8n1 and 9600-7n1 with and without echo.
from an RS232 serial port and a TTL serial port
They do not respond to any commands sent to it.

Using PUTTY and your SerialPort-Tester.exe program
I have tested with LED indicator, using common Anode and common Cathode diodes, both between Positive relay supply and output pin and between ground supply and output pin.

Is the board supposed to ECHO commands sent to it?

Answer :

1 There is a "4CH RS232 Demo video" in the data. You can install the video to operate.
2 The serial port parameters are: 9600 N 8 1
3 Please use the RS232 interface.
4 Under normal communication conditions, data will be returned.
5 Please send the operation video for analysis. Of course, if you still cannot use it, we will make a video for your reference
Question :
Thank you for clarifying the issue.
I have now managed to get the thing working.
You claim in your sales description...

At issue is statement "3: Two serial ports: RS232 DB9 interface, TTL 232 interface"

This obviously is not true as I was using TTL232 without success but have now got it working with a USB to realRS232 converter.
This is not what was bought and is an issue to our project as it stands. TTL232 is essential.

Also your description is not correct as regards the ECHO of serial commands, it does not ECHO the commands but it does reply to a successful command with a status update. It would be better if the device actually ECHOed the command as it was being sent as well as sending a status report on completion of the command, to visually ensure that it was receiving the commands over the serial port correctly.

Further comment regarding the command set. A further command would be very helpful. AT+AR which would return the current status of all relays as an addition to the commands AT+AO and AT+AC ( all open and all closed ).

This concludes the customer complaint. But I leave you with the observation that your sales description of the device was inaccurate and as a result I have two functional devices that are, sadly, useless to the project. If you have a device that does work with TTL232 and has the same function as the R217A08 then I would be pleased to hear about it.

Answer :
